How NHS charges changed
The table uses the date each charge took effect. Some periods had no change. That matters when an older NHS bill or article uses a different amount.

Free or reduced-cost treatment
Some people do not pay NHS dental charges or can get help with the cost. This can depend on age, pregnancy, recent birth, qualifying benefits or household income. Check your eligibility before claiming an exemption.
Private treatment has separate prices set by the practice. Ask what is NHS-funded, what is private and what you will pay before treatment starts.
