NHS dentists accepting new patients
Start with location, then check whether the practice is accepting adults, children, urgent cases or free-care patients.

What to check first
Search by town or postcode and look for practices marked as accepting NHS patients. Some practices accept children but not adults. Some accept urgent NHS care but not routine new patients.
Phone the practice before you travel. NHS profile data can change quickly when a practice fills its NHS contract capacity.
- Accepting adults - useful if you need routine NHS care for yourself.
- Accepting children - useful for family searches, even where adult places are limited.
- Urgent care - useful for pain, swelling, trauma or a broken restoration.
- NHS status unconfirmed - the practice has NHS signals, but we have not confirmed current acceptance.
Why practices stop taking NHS patients
Many NHS dental practices work to a yearly contract. Once their NHS capacity is full, they may pause new NHS patients even if they still treat existing NHS patients.
That is why a local search can show NHS-enabled practices that are not currently accepting new patients.
Useful searches
Use the town pages when you want a crawlable local view, or use the main search when you need radius, service and availability filters.
